Sumeet Chabria is an American banking executive, AI and tech strategist, enterprise transformation advisor, and CEO of ThoughtLinks. From cost transformation and governance to AI strategy and digital operating models, Sumeet partners with industry leaders navigating high-stakes change.
Leadership in Global Banking Technology
Prior to founding ThoughtLinks, Sumeet served as Global COO for Technology and Operations and Head of Global Business Services at Bank of America. He led 50,000 people and provided oversight to a 90,000-person organization across transformation spanning development, infrastructure, operations, and enterprise services at scale.
Before Bank of America, Sumeet spent 24 years at HSBC in the U.S. and Europe. As Global CIO of Banking and Markets, he launched and led "One HSBC," a global modernization of the firm’s securities and wealth platforms. His leadership has shaped both institutional and consumer divisions, spanning strategy, technology, and workforce design.

Sumeet also contributes to U.S. policy and regulatory conversations, having served on the Harvard Kennedy School’s Responsible AI Council. Earlier in his career, he consulted at leading institutions like Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse.

Sumeet is a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College, where he is an industry expert in CMU’s Chief Information and Digital Officer Programs, teaching digital transformation and AI strategy to executive-level CIOs and CDOs.

Sumeet holds two master’s degrees, in management and technology, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Stony Brook University, where he delivered the 2020 commencement address.
He has completed executive programs at the University of Michigan’s Ross School, IMD Lausanne, and London Business School. His interest in AI began with his master’s thesis on expert systems, and today continues through boardroom-level AI governance and workforce readiness.
