AI’s Growing Role in Global Capability Centers: Insights from Fourthwards Roundtable

As artificial intelligence reshapes global industries, Global Capability Centers (GCCs) are evolving from core enabling functions to strategic innovation hubs, becoming microcosms of their corporate enterprises. This topic took center stage at the inaugural in-person Fourthwards Roundtable Series, jointly hosted by Francisco D'Souza and Sumeet Chabria, sponsored by Galent, in Hyderabad and Bangalore.

The event brought together 60 senior GCC leaders, representing more than 12 Fortune 200 and 25 Fortune 500 companies and overseeing 500,000 employees across industries.

Keynote speakers Francisco D'Souza, Co-founder & former CEO of Cognizant; Sumeet Chabria, CEO of ThoughtLinks; and Ashwin Bharath, CEO of Galent and Executive Chairman of Revature, led discussions on AI’s expanding role in global services, workforce transformation, and enterprise strategy, with a focus on adoption and challenges of Generative AI and Agentic AI.

A fireside chat, moderated by Bharath, examined AI’s ability to redefine GCC strategies, drive global innovation, and create business value. Later, D’Souza and Chabria led a roundtable discussion focused on:

  • Aligning AI strategies with enterprise goals

  • The competitive edge of Generative AI

  • Challenges in scaling AI adoption

GCCs at the Forefront of AI Innovation

With AI now integral to enterprise strategy, GCCs have both the opportunity and responsibility to drive AI-driven transformation. India, home to a robust GCC ecosystem, is uniquely positioned to lead this evolution, offering a deep talent pool, a culture dedicated to continuous reskilling, and a collaborative environment conducive to enterprise growth powered by AI.

Reflecting on the discussions, Sumeet Chabria said: "What we witnessed was a remarkable convergence of ideas and strategies. The participating GCC leaders demonstrated how they're leveraging AI to transform their operations from traditional service delivery centers to strategic innovation hubs."

Ashwin Bharath emphasized the need for closer collaboration between enterprises and GCCs to accelerate AI adoption: "At Galent, we believe Generative AI & Agentic AI will open far more doors than they will close. However, true success requires GCCs and enterprises to work as one. AI adoption is moving at unprecedented speed, and when the shift happens, GCCs must lead the charge—not play catch-up."

AI’s Role in the Future of GCCs

As AI continues to transform the global services landscape, ThoughtLinks remains committed to guiding enterprises in strategizing, implementing, and optimizing AI-driven transformations. The Fourthwards Roundtable highlighted the critical roles of collaboration, innovation, and strategic leadership in successfully navigating AI’s next era.
